Who Voices Nala in the Live-Action Lion King
In the 2019 live-action remake of The Lion King, Nala is primarily a voiced character. The actress who provides the speaking and singing voice for adult Nala is Beyoncé. She brings the character to life through vocal performance, while the on-screen lion model is animated to match her performance.
Who Portrays Young Nala
Young Nala is voiced by Shahadi Wright Joseph. She provides the voice for the cub version of Nala during the early scenes of the film. Her performance establishes Nala’s personality from a young age and connects directly to Beyoncé’s adult portrayal.
How the Cast Was Chosen
Casting focused on finding actors who could convey emotion through voice alone. Directors worked with voice actors to match performances with the animated lion characters. The goal was to create a realistic yet emotionally clear interpretation of the original animated film.
