Who Is Suge Knight

Suge Knight, born Marion Hugh Knight Jr., is a former music executive and co-founder of Death Row Records. He became one of the most visible figures in hip-hop during the 1990s, known for his role in signing major artists and building the label into a dominant force in the industry.

What Did Suge Knight Do

Knight helped launch the careers of artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tupac Shakur through Death Row Records. The label released several commercially successful albums that defined West Coast rap in the early 1990s. He also used aggressive business tactics and personal connections to control distribution deals and artist contracts.

In 1996, Knight was convicted of assault and other charges related to incidents involving artists and industry figures. He later faced additional legal troubles, including a 2015 hit-and-run incident that resulted in a fatality. Knight pleaded no contest and was sentenced to lengthy prison terms. He has since remained largely out of public view while serving his sentences.
