What Day Is Juneteenth Each Year
Juneteenth is always on June 19. It marks the anniversary of the 1865 announcement of freedom in Texas. Because the date is fixed, the day of the week changes every year.
Juneteenth 2025 and Future Years
In 2025, Juneteenth falls on a Thursday. In 2026 it is on a Friday, and in 2027 it is on a Saturday. The holiday is observed on June 19 each year, with federal offices closing on that date or the nearest weekday when it lands on a weekend.
Federal Holiday Status and Observance
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 under the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act. Federal agencies, banks, and many businesses follow the federal holiday schedule.
