What Happened to MH370

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Radar and satellite data later indicated the aircraft flew far off course over the Indian Ocean before running out of fuel.

Was MH370 Found

No full wreckage of MH370 has been recovered. In July 2015, a flaperon from a Boeing 777 was found on Réunion Island, and later confirmed to be from MH370. Several other fragments have washed ashore across the western Indian Ocean.

Search Efforts and Current Status

Large-scale underwater searches were conducted in the southern Indian Ocean, but the main wreckage has not been located. In January 2018, a private company ended its contracted search after covering the designated area without finding the aircraft.

Official investigations continue, and families of passengers and crew still seek answers. For more details on the search and findings, see the Australian Transport Safety Bureau report at atsb.gov.au.
