What Is a USFS Gold Medalist
A USFS gold medalist is a figure skater who has earned the gold medal at a qualifying event or championship under the United States Figure Skating Association. The designation is used in official results and records to identify top-performing athletes in disciplines such as singles, pairs, and ice dance.
How Skaters Earn the Gold Medal
Skaters earn the gold medal by placing first in the free skate or free dance segment at qualifying events like the U.S. Championships or international assignments sanctioned by USFS. Points, technical element scores, and program component scores determine placements, and the skater with the highest total in the final segment receives the gold medal.
