Born in Guangdong, China, Kwok moved to Hong Kong and started in the construction and property business. In 1963, he co-founded Sun Hung Kai Properties with Fung King-hey and Kwok Wing-hung. The firm grew quickly by developing residential and commercial projects across Hong Kong.

Kwok Tak-seng’s wealth came largely from Sun Hung Kai Properties’ expansion and Hong Kong’s property boom.
