Is the Grey's Anatomy Hospital in Boston Real?
Grey's Anatomy is set in the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital, not a real Boston hospital. The show is filmed primarily in Los Angeles, California, and no actual Boston hospital is used as the primary filming location for the series.
Boston Connections to Grey's Anatomy
Although the series is set in Seattle, some exterior shots and establishing scenes use recognizable Boston landmarks and hospitals. The show has used locations around Boston to stand in for Pacific Northwest settings, which can create the impression that the story takes place in Boston.
Where Is Grey's Anatomy Actually Filmed?
Most interior scenes are shot on soundstages and studios in Los Angeles. Exterior shots of hospitals and streets often come from Los Angeles-area locations, while occasional Boston footage is used to suggest a broader East Coast atmosphere.
