Olivia Newton John Age When Filming Grease
Olivia Newton John was 29 years old when principal photography for Grease began in 1977. She was born on September 26, 1948, which made her one of the older actors portraying a high school student in the film.
Why Olivia Newton John Was Cast as a Teen
Director Randal Kleiser and the casting team focused on star power, chemistry with John Travolta, and singing ability rather than strict age accuracy. Newton John had already achieved major pop success before Grease, which made her a compelling choice for the role of Sandy Olsson.
