What Is the Grammy Award for Song of the Year
Song of the Year is one of the four major Grammy categories. It honors the songwriter(s) of a single track, not the performer or album. The award is decided by voting members of the Recording Academy.
Eligibility and Nomination Process
To qualify, a song must be released for the first time during the eligibility year. The Recording Academy compiles a longlist, then nominates finalists in each category. Final voting members select the winner from the nominated songs.
