Who Were George VI Siblings

King George VI had four surviving siblings. He was the second son of King George V and Queen Mary. His brothers were the future Edward VIII and Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. His sisters were Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, and Princess Patricia of Connaught, who later married a commoner.

Edward VIII and Prince Henry

Edward, Prince of Wales, became king briefly in 1936 before abdicating to marry Wallis Simpson. Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, served as a senior royal and later became a prominent figure in public life. Both brothers were older than George VI, who was not expected to reign.

Princess Mary and Princess Patricia

Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, was known for her charitable work and remained unmarried for much of her early life. Princess Patricia married Alexander Ramsay and gave up her royal style, living a more private life. Together, George VI siblings formed a close-knit group during the early twentieth century.
