Do Walmart Employees Work on Thanksgiving
Yes, many Walmart employees work on Thanksgiving. The retailer typically keeps most stores open with reduced hours, and associates are scheduled for shifts that include the holiday. Staffing needs vary by location and role, so some workers may have the day off while others are required to work.
Thanksgiving Pay and Scheduling
Walmart generally pays associates time-and-a-half for hours worked on Thanksgiving. In addition, many full-time and part-time employees receive a meal break or food allowance during their shift. Scheduling is managed by store managers, and workers are usually informed of their Thanksgiving assignments in advance through the company’s scheduling tools.
Store Hours and Customer Expectations
Walmart stores often open later on Thanksgiving and close earlier the following day, with some locations opening overnight for Black Friday. Customers can check specific store hours on Walmart’s website or app. For more details on holiday schedules, visit Walmart’s official holiday hours page.
