What Is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Players use solid paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over a net. It is played as singles or doubles on a badminton-sized court with a modified tennis net.

Basic Rules and Gameplay

Games are typically played to 11 points and must be won by two points. The serve is underhand and must land in the diagonal service box. After the serve, the ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed. The non-volley zone, or "kitchen," extends seven feet from the net.

Why Pickleball Is Growing

Pickleball has expanded rapidly due to its accessible rules, smaller court, and lower physical impact. It appeals to a wide range of ages and skill levels. Public courts and dedicated facilities continue to increase in number across many countries. For more details on the sport's growth and official rules, visit USA Pickleball.
